Celebrating the opening of the new Aldinga Bridge
The Fleurieu Connections Alliance is proud to announce the completion and opening of the new Aldinga Bridge, a key milestone in the $810 million Main South Road and Victor Harbor Road Duplication Project, jointly funded by the Australian and South Australian Governments. The project includes intersection upgrades and a full duplication of Main South Road between Aldinga and Sellicks Beach, improving safety, reducing congestion, and enhancing connectivity for local communities.
The bridge officially opened to traffic on Monday, 3 March 2025, following a FCA Family event on Saturday, 1 March 2025. This event gave our workforce, subcontractors, and supply chain partners the chance to walk the bridge with their loved ones and see firsthand the impact of their hard work.
Built by South Australians, for South Australians
At the heart of this achievement is the dedication and expertise of our 98% South Australian supply chain and 99% South Australian workforce. This major infrastructure project is also supporting 405 full-time equivalent jobs during construction, providing a significant economic boost to local businesses and communities. The full project is expected to be completed in 2026, delivering long-term benefits to the Fleurieu region.
Reflecting on this milestone, Alliance General Manager Andy Coonan praised the collective effort that brought this project to life:
“The completion of the Aldinga Bridge is a testament to the dedication and expertise of our workforce, supply chain partners, subcontractors, and Alliance partners. The success of this project is a direct result of the collaboration and commitment of so many South Australian businesses and individuals who have worked tirelessly to bring this vision to life. We are incredibly proud of what we have achieved together.”
A Lasting Legacy
The new Aldinga Bridge stands as a testament to the skill, innovation, and dedication of South Australian businesses and workers. As we continue toward project completion, we remain committed to delivering high-quality infrastructure that benefits South Australians now and into the future.
Congratulations to everyone who contributed to this incredible achievement.
