Roadworks staff have Christmas magic all wrapped up
It was a sleigh-load of Christmas cheer as contractors from two major projects across South Australia joined together with festive spirit to bring joy to children in out-of-home care across South Australia. More than 80 presents were carefully chosen, individually wrapped, and delivered to Act for Kids, lighting up the season for little ones who deserve it most.
Act for Kids is a for-purpose organisation that provides therapy and support services to vulnerable children and their families.
The magic began with a wish list—kids’ ages, their Christmas wishes, and a sprinkle of imagination. From colouring books to action figures, puzzles to sporting memorabilia, each gift carried a message of love and kindness, wrapped up in festive paper and sealed with care.
But this was no ordinary project for our project teams! Known for building some of South Australia’s most complex infrastructure, the teams from the Fleurieu Connections Alliance (FCA) and Port Wakefield to Port Augusta Alliance (PW2PA) swapped high-vis for holiday vibes, creating a wave of generosity across two bustling project sites.
When Santa’s sleigh suffered a last-minute breakdown (reindeer troubles, we hear), CPB staff stepped in to save Christmas, ensuring every gift made it safely to Act for Kids in Adelaide’s eastern suburbs. It was a true team effort, and the result was a little extra magic for children who need it most.
FCA Alliance General Manager Andrew Coonan summed it up best: 'These incredible teams showed that building roads isn’t all we’re good at. This time, we built something far more important—community, compassion, and Christmas magic for kids who need it most. It was a heartwarming reminder of what really matters.'
