Major milestones for Main South Road Duplication Project
Significant progress has been made as the Fleurieu Connections Alliance continues to deliver Stage Two of the Main South Road duplication between Aldinga and Sellicks Beach, focusing on the construction of a new interchange at Aldinga Beach Road and Aldinga Road.
The interchange, which realigns the junctions of Aldinga Beach Road and Aldinga Road, is a key feature of the project. At the heart of this development are the piling works currently underway. These works are essential for creating the vertical and horizontal support structures required for the underpass and bridge, laying a solid foundation for the new infrastructure.
Above the 53 piles being installed, the underpass will be supported by twelve 40-tonne girders, which will form a bridge deck measuring 26 metres in length and 27 metres in width. This deck will be complemented by 62 architectural panels and 86 metres of anti-throw screens to enhance both safety and aesthetics.
As the interchange begins to take shape, the piling and support structures are setting the stage for smoother traffic flow and improved safety for residents and visitors traveling through this vital corridor.
Stage Two of the Main South Road duplication is being delivered as part of the broader Fleurieu Connections project, improving access and connectivity in South Australia's southern region.
