The sky’s the limit for TW Civil
It all started with one man, one ute and a dream for his start-up company. Todd Williams could never have envisioned the rapid expansion that would see him become one of the key players on the Main South Road duplication project.
In a little over two years Todd’s company, TW Civil, has grown at a remarkable rate. Back in late 2022 Todd was a solo operator with a minor contract for stormwater works on the first stage of the Main South Road duplication project. The big growth trajectory came when he was awarded a major drainage contract for stage 2 of the project, which will duplicate Main South Road from Aldinga to Sellicks Beach. This meant getting a crew and required machinery together to undertake the work.
The initial crew of five people grew into a second crew and now a third, taking the total team to 15 people. Meanwhile, the fleet of vehicles has expanded to two excavators, two bob cats, a 12-tonne tipper and work utes. The Seaford local loves being part of a major project in his own backyard and he can’t believe how quickly his company has grown.
‘It’s been fantastic to be close to home and have a job on my front doorstep,’ Todd says. ‘From myself to three crews in such as short space of time, I pinch myself every day. It’s grown so rapidly.’
A big challenge for Todd was navigating the change of having crews on both days and nights over a number of weeks. It’s all a long way from his humble beginnings but he’s taking it all in his stride. As to the progress on the roadway, the transport landscape has certainly changed out there for the kid who would visit his family’s beach shack at Silver Sands in the summers.
‘Every day you drive around and you see change – you just talk to people about it and they say how good it’s going to be for the economy down here,’ he says.
For now, Todd’s keen to see out this major project for his local area. ‘I’ll keep putting my best foot forward and growing and expanding as needed,’ Todd says. Who knows where the road will take him.
