To construct Stage 2 of the Main South Road Duplication project a temporary realignment will be in place at Cox Road, Aldinga Beach. Once the project is completed in 2026, this part of the road will be dual lanes.

Traffic management will be in place at the intersection of Main South Road and Norman Road for nightwork between Thursday, 8 August 2024 and Wednesday, 18 September 2024.

From Thursday, 19 September 2024, traffic will switch onto the temporary realignment for approximately six months. A heavy vehicle detour will be in place for movements between Norman Road and Rogers Road in both directions. Light vehicles can perform all movements at the intersection. Please see the maps for more information.

What else is happening

In addition to the realignment of Cox Road and Norman Road, we will be undertaking:

  • Site and Construction Works: including barrier installation, vegetation clearance and removal, earthworks; pavement construction, survey activities, installing utilities, installing drainage, creating access points, and maintaining cleanliness by sweeping and watering, especially in dry and windy conditions;
  • Asphalt work: road repairs, laying asphalt and line marking;
  • Speed and lane restrictions will apply throughout the project area

How this affects you

Some noise and light spill can be expected, but we’ll try to keep these disturbances to a minimum. Please follow traffic management directions while work is in progress. In addition, we will contact you if the work directly impacts your property. Access will be maintained for emergency services. Detour information will be provided on VMS boards in your local area and on the website. If the weather impacts our progress, work dates will be extended.
