Project Update - December 2025 and January 2026
The $810 million Fleurieu Connections project is jointly funded by the Australian and South Australian governments.
Thank you for your support during construction of Stage 2 of the Main South Road Duplication between Aldinga and Sellicks Beach. This year, we have reached several key milestones, including:
- opening of the new Aldinga Bridge, as well as new on and off ramps for the new Interchange.
- construction of the new northbound carriageway.
- closure, reconstruction and reopening of the new southbound carriageway (Old Main South Road).
- reconstruction of key intersections along Main South Road, including the realignment of Sellicks Beach Road and opening the new Sellicks Hill access road.
- completed upgrades to drainage, lighting, barriers and pavement across the corridor.
More than 30,000m2 of vegetation has been planted, over 50,000 tonnes of asphalt laid, approx. 9,000m3
of concrete poured and more than 6,000m of new drainage installed, preparing for a safer, more efficient Main South Road.
Upcoming closures along Main South Road and shut down period
We have reached a major project milestone with over four kilometres of Main South Road to open between Perth Street and Colville Road as a duplicated roadway from 7am Monday 22 December. Some sections of Main South Road will be closed on Sunday night to switch to the new configuration.
There will be no works from late Wednesday 24 December, with construction recommencing Monday 5 January 2026.
Upcoming works in early 2026
Our crews will return in January to complete key works including the new Aldinga underpass, shared use path, final asphalt layers, line marking and other finishing works.
Speed and lane restrictions will be in place as required and works will be undertaken between 7am and 7pm, Monday to Saturday. Some short-term road closures and night works may be required, we’ll keep you updated via our website. You can register for updates at www.fcalliance.com.au
Current traffic arrangements and reduced speed limits will remain in place over the holiday period to keep road users safe
