Project overview

The Australian and South Australian governments have committed a total of $685 million to fund the Fleurieu Connections Main South Road and Victor Harbor Road duplication projects. These projects will result in safer and faster journeys for motorists and provide a vital boost for local tourism, communities and support hundreds of jobs each year during construction.

Main South Road Duplication - Stage 1

Seaford to Aldinga

Between Seaford and Aldinga, Main South Road will be fully duplicated.

This will include:

- a grade separation (overpass) at the intersection of Tatachilla Road and Maslin Beach Road;

- a grade separation (underpass) at the intersection of Port Road;

- a grade separation and road alignment at the intersection of Main South Road and Aldinga Road, removing the planned roundabout at Aldinga Road.

- a Shared Use Path for pedestrians and cyclists along the length of the upgrade with links to Aldinga and the Coast to Vines Rail Trail.

Major construction works commenced on the Seaford to Aldinga section of Main South Road in April 2022, with further investigation works continuing until mid 2022.

Main South Road Duplication - Stage 2

Aldinga to Sellicks Beach

Between Aldinga and Sellicks Beach, full duplication will be delivered, restoring an additional lane for the project. A concept design is currently being developed and will be released to the community later this year.
